Modi really deserves kudos!

Finally, it was Narendra Modi who had the last smile of satisfaction after the results of Gujarath assembly elections have been announced and Sonia Gandhi, supremo of the Congress, who called Modi “the merchant of death”, had to swallow her own words.
In fact, what made Modi to regain power in Gujarat in spite of vehement election campaign against him and his party by the Congress and other allied political parties is not a mystery at all!
Around a month before elections to the Gujarat assembly, I happened to glance at a news magazine that had published an exclusive interview with Modi. It was really wondering for anyone as Modi was staying away from journalists for, I suppose, he was branded by the media world as the propagator of hardcore Hindutva ideology. So, it was natural for anyone to be surprised at the sight of any newsmagazine publishing his interview.
In that interview the interviewer had questioned Modi if he had done anything for the development of minorities in his state during his regime as the CM. And for that Modi’s reply was (almost) like this: “No I have not done anything especially for the minorities and I will never do anything especially for the minorities. I have not done anything exclusively for Hindus too!”
Yes, this is what every political party and the activists of every political party have to understand. After the partition of our motherland on the basis of religion almost all the political parties have played the cheap communal politics just to garner the votes of certain community. Every political party (if not every, most) has tried to instigate communal hatred among two communities just to strengthen their political base. And, needless to say, such acts of the political parties are sure to divide this nation on the basis of religion for another time.
Modi’s remark during the interview gains importance when we look at the political scenario that has taken the wrong twist of communalism. Even though how far Modi is secular is still a debated issue, his remark certainly conveys a message that there would be no communal budgeting, there would be no communal reservations (Readers please remember that the central government is planning to introduce reservations for minorities in the annual budget) in his state after he regains power in the state for the third time.
And in the national politics there is a lot to happen. Surely the Congress doesn’t dare to go out for mid term polls to the Lok Sabha as it was signaling before the Gujarat assembly elections. The Communist comrades are expected to soften their stand on Indo-US Civilian Nuclear deal thus paving the way for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to go on with the talks with the IEAE and what not the Communist comrades may even allow the central government to go on with operationalising the nuke deal! After the Nandigram issue hit the nation and the cruel faces of the Communists were made known to the people the Comrades are really worried about their vote bank – the peasants and the farmers. The victory of BJP in Gujarat is definitely a major blow for the Comrades and their influence in the national politics is sure to deter.
There is a lot to happen in the overall political scenario of the country. At the beginning the core issue of the election campaign in Gujarat was, no doubt, development of the state. But after Sonia Gandhi calling Modi “the merchant of death” everything seemed to change and the campaign once again took a religious stand, if not communal, which acted as the death blow to the Congress. The tactics of Congress calling itself the “secular” party and branding the BJP as “communal” was completely thrown out by Gujarat voters.
Perhaps, hereafter no wise person call Congress the “secular” party as it was the Congress which forced Modi to raise issue of alleged encounter of Sohrabuddin. All political parties, hereafter, must look into developmental aspects rather than branding someone as “communal” and some others as “secular”.
And, yes, the BJP, throughout the nation, is really in a mesmerizing mood after the news of victory of Modi in Gujarat was made public. L. K. Advani, leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, described the victory as “signal of BJP’s coming back to the power at the center” which is certainly not. Gujarat is not India and vice versa. What happened in Gujarat may not be repeated throughout the nation. BJP has to warm itself up for the upcoming elections in Rajasthan and Karnataka.
The business barons of Gujarat have already welcomed the reentry of Modi to the seat of CM which shows popularity of Modi in the corporate houses of the Gujarat.
To sum up, it is neither the victory of Narendra Modi, nor the victory of the BJP, nor is it the victory of Hindutva agenda! It is the triumphant victory of the development of the state. It has given a clear signal to the nation that anyone who wholeheartedly works for the development of the state/nation is sure to regain the power. And all must understand that the all round development of the state / nation is far better than any of the isms.
Narendra Modi must continue to work as the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of his state government and must strive hard to develop his state further in every aspect, because common man is worried about the development, not “isms”.
Let there prevail peace and prosperity in Gujarat and all the best to Modi!
