ಒಂದಾನೊಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಜನಿಸಿಲ್ಲದ ಆದರೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದೆರಡು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕಿರುವ ಮಗುವೊಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಮಗು ದೇವರನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿತು. "ದೇವರೇ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾಳೆ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಕಳಿಸುತ್ತೀಯಾ ಎಂದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ (ಸ್ವರ್ಗ) ಇರುವವರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾತಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಇನ್ನೂ ತುಂಬಾ ಚಿಕ್ಕವ. ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಾನೊಬ್ಬ ನಿಸ್ಸಹಾಯಕ ಮಗು. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಜೀವಿಸಲಿ?" ದೇವರು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ "ಮಗೂ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತುಂಬಾ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅವಳು ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅವಳೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾಳೆ" ಎಂದ. "ಆದರೆ ನಾನಿಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನಿಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ಹಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ನಗಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನಗೆ ಖುಷಿಯಿಂದಿರಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಸಾಕು. ನಾನು ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?" ಎಂದಿತು ಮಗು. "ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿನ ದೇವತೆ ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ದಿನಾ ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಅವಳು ನಿಷ್ಕಾಮ ಪ್ರೇಮವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅವಳ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನೀನು ಸುಖವಾಗಿರಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೇ?" (ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ - ೨೦೦೭ ರ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ವಾರಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿದ್ದ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ರೂವಾರಿ ಡಾ. ಮೋಹನ್ ಆಳ್ವರ ಸಂದರ್ಶನ. ’ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ - ೨೦೦೭’ ಮುಗಿದು ಹಲವು ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳೇ ಕಳೆದಿರಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಆಳ್ವರು ಸಂದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ವಿಚಾರಗಳು ಯಾವತ್ತಿಗೂ ವಿಚಾರಯೋಗ್ಯ.) ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಅಭಿಮಾನ ಇರುವವರಿಗೇನೂ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಅಂಥವರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನ ಬೇಡ. ಆದರೆ, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿರುವ ಜನರ ಬಳಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಹಣ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇನ್ನು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಹಣ ಇರುವವರ ಬಳಿ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಂತಹ ಭವ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ರೂವಾರಿ ಡಾ. ಮೋಹನ್ ಆಳ್ವ ಮಾತ್ರ ಈ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಅಪವಾದ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು-ನುಡಿಯ ಕುರಿತು ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿದೆ. ಕಳಕಳಿಯಿದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಂತಹ ಅನುಪಮ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲು ಬೇಕಾದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲವೂ ಇದೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿದೆ. ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯನ್ನು ವರ್ಷವರ್ಷವೂ ನಡೆಸುವುದರ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ’ವಿರಾಟ್’ ಡಾ. ಆಳ್ವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿತು: ವಿರಾಟ್: ನಿಮಗೆ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಂತಹ ಸಾ...

ನಾಲ್ಕು ಹಣತೆಗಳು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಹಣತೆಗಳು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಮಾತಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದು ನಮಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಷ್ಟು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಹಣತೆ ಹೇಳಿತು, "ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು ’ಶಾಂತಿ’. ಆದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಜನ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹೊತ್ತು ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರಲು ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಬೇಗ ಆರಿಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು". ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅದರ ದೀಪ ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗಿ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಆರಿಹೋಯಿತು. ಎರಡನೆಯ ಹಣತೆ, "ನಾನು ’ನಂಬಿಕೆ’. ಆದರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನಿಂದು ಉಪಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ತುಂಬ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹೊತು ಉರಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದೇನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದಿತು. ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ತಡ, ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಬಂದ ತಂಗಾಳಿಯೊಂದು ಆ ಹಣತೆಯನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು. ಮೂರನೆಯ ಹಣತೆ ತುಂಬ ದುಃಖದಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿತು, "ನಾನು ’ಪ್ರೀತಿ’! ಆದರೂ ನನಗೆ ತುಂಬ ಹೊತ್ತು (ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ) ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವಷ್ಟು ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲ. ಜನ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಈ ಜನ ಯಮಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹತ್ತಿರದವರನ್ನು, ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತುಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ’ಪ್ರೀತಿ’ಯಿಂದ ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ". ತನ್ನ ಮಾತು ಮುಗಿಸಿದ ಹಣತೆ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕಾಯದೇ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಆರಿಹೋಯಿತು. ಆ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ಮಗು ಆ ಕೋಣೆಗೆ ಅಂಬೆಗಾಲಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂ...

ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಷ್ಟು ಆಸೆಗಳು, ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾದ ಗುರಿ, ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣ ಬುದ್ಧಿ... ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇತ್ತು ಅವನಿಗೆ. ಸುಂದರ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಕನಸಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ತುಂಬ ಪ್ರೀತಿಂದ ಪದವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡ. ತರಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಎಂದೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನ ಶಿಸ್ತಿಗೆ, ವಿನಯಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರೂ ತಲೆದೂಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಹಾಗೇ, ಸದಾ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಸ್ಥಾನ. ಸದಾ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ತೊಂಭತ್ತು ತೊಂಭತ್ತೈದು ಅಂಕಗಳು. ಯಾರೊಂದಿಗೂ, ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಸಭ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವರ್ತಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಬ್ಬ ಸಂಭಾವಿತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಿರಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅರ್ಹತೆಗಳೂ ಅವನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು. ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲೇನೋ ಸರಾಸರಿ ತೊಂಭತ್ತೈದು ಅಂಕಗಳಿಸಿ ತೇರ್ಗಡೆಯಾಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟ. ನಂತರ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಲೆದೂ ಅಲೆದೂ ಸುಸ್ತಾದ. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯಾರಿಂದಲೂ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತ ಯಾರಿಂದಲೂ ಮೋಸಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅವನೇ ವಂಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ. ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮ ಪದವಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ವಿನಯ, ಶಿಸ್ತು, ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಗೌರವಾದರ, ಜ್ಞಾನ ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ನೈತಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೇ. ಆದರೆ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತನಾಗಬೇಕಾದವನಿಗೆ, ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡವನಿಗೆ ಇರಲೇಬೇಕಾದ ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಆತ ಒಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸದಾ ಹೊಸ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಸುತ್ತ, ಅರಗಿಸುತ್ತ ಕುಳಿತನೇ ಹೊರತು ಆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯುವ ಗೋಜಿಗೇ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈಗ ಆತ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಕಛೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ...
