The nation as a whole was shocked when it heard the news of Delhi, the capital of this country, being attacked by Pakistan sponsored terrorist after Bangalore and Ahmedabad were targeted by the terrorists.
As soon as this news was aired by the country’s 24X7 news channels the country was under shock for a while and soon after Shivraj Patil, the Union Home Minister, came out with a statement condemning the attack the people had a sigh of relief for it was another round of the post-terrorist-attack protocol. And the very next day of the attack our media carried it on their front page along with some gruesome photos of the victims, as usual.
Well, that is not a notable issue as for now as India becoming the target of Pak sponsored terrorists again and again has become a too common factor. But, certainly, the way our political leadership has been dealing with the international terrorism has to be questioned seriously.
By far, more than fifty thousand innocents have lost their lives in the terror strikes since the country got independence and everyone - including our political leaders - is aware of the involvement of Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI, behind most of the terrorists’ attacks in the country. Nonetheless, our political leadership has utterly failed in saving the lives of its citizens, thanks to the impotency of our political leaders. Why the country which possesses nuclear weapons in its armory has failed to curb not-so-powerful, but notorious (read Pakistan), country? Why the country which has the second largest army in the world has been, unfortunately, failing to kick out the Bangladeshi infiltrators whose involvement in many of the terrorists’ attack has been suspected and proved in some cases? Why the country which has so-called stringent laws to curb the terror menace has failed in giving the capital punishment to Afzal Guru whose involvement in the attack in the Parliament case has been proved at the apex court of the country? It might be because, perhaps, none among the people who were murdered in the terrorists’ attacks were the relatives of our political leaders.
Everyone, including the political parties, blame the police and the intelligence wing, particularly the RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), right after every terror attack saying that the attack was due to the inefficiency or failure of the former and the latter departments. But, interestingly, no one seems to blame those who, even after having got everything from India, covertly support the terrorists and their agenda! Dear reader, please make a note that Afzal Guru was not a Pakistani nor was he an activist of the Taliban but he was an Indian by birth, but not by heart! Nonetheless, he planned and executed one of the most shameful attacks the independent India has ever witnessed – the attack on Parliament. And, yes, there are a countable number of Afzal Gurus, in India, who can plan and execute ghastly attacks. India can tolerate the outside attackers and on one fine day it will eliminate them out from this universe, but, definitely, this nation can’t survive if the number of Afzal Gurus were not brought down. I wonder as to why our intelligentia is mum over anti-national elements.
When the United States was attacked by the boys of Osama Bin Laden, it took no time in declaring a war against the attackers. Adding to the audacity of the Bush administration there was a great, perhaps unprecedented, support from the opposition party and the American press to fight against the Talibans. Though the opposition party of the US criticized the Bush administration for its failure to prevent the attack, it was not interested in making it a ‘vote bank’ issue.
But when the terrorists attacked the Parliament of India every political party, except the ruling party, was on the streets to shout slogans against the alleged failure of the police and the intelligence bureau. Whereas in the US it was not the same for there was a political consent over what has to be done next. They, unlike India, didn’t opt for sloganeering. There was a well planned and concrete approach to tackle terrorism of every kind. But the political parties of India are very keen on taking the advantage and political mileage out of all the terror attacks. There is no planned and concrete approach, as was in the US, over the issue of tackling the terrorism of all kinds other than sloganeering and “strongly condemning” the attack. (I don’t know what meaning does the term “strongly condemn” has in the dictionary of Indian politicians!) And this attitude of the Indian political parties is certainly going to prove suicidal, I must say.
The humiliating defeat we have had with the terrorists in our war against terrorism must be a lesson for the political leadership of India. It is a shame for India which has been claiming for a permanent place in the Security Council of the United Nations Organization that it has failed to shut the unlawful activities of its neighbor. More stringent laws have to be brought to punish the terrorists severely. This great fiasco has to be answered with a lightening speed or, to be more precise, with blitzkrieg.

to be honest, i liked the way u depicted ur views regarding terrorism.
i also support ur views. According to me its impossible for politicians to unravel this problem as they are unilateral in their view and works. Im always indifferent to these bigots. I suggest you to watch the recent hindi movie 'a wednesday' which backons ur articles and also tells how an exaseparated 'common man'acts when he.being the witness of this terrorism.
and as I said try giving some articles with insights...
